mISSION
To build and sustain a corporate alter of ceaseless prayer and worship in Salem. A place established by God, owned and fueled by the churches, and offered to Jesus with all our heart.
OUR HISTORY:
SHOP started in a garage in 2003 with a vision in the Heart of Jim and Linda Moore it grew and grew and held over 7 locations in Salem until finally resting strategically where it is today, in what was once the darkest place in Salem- a night club called the SIX. On 8/8/08, SHOP launched 24/7 prayer Which was sustained for over 6 years in Salem (with some starts and stops in between) from a small band of lovesick warriors who gave their lives for the cause of His presence in Salem.
In 2021 we had a drastic shift as Jim and Linda stepped down from leadership here to follow the Lord into the next season God had for them. Richard and Ginger Frank took over SHOP in 2021 in January. While settling into this work they knew a drastic shift was ahead for SHOP, a shift that carried all the foundations with it that were previously laid, but with a new focus of how the lord wanted to build this alter of worship in Salem once again. In this new shift we are calling the church's of Salem to stand together in prayer and fight for a House of Prayer in this city, it's not about a man, not about one ministry doing the prayer thing, but ONE body in Salem being a "dwelling place" of God in the spirit. We are so excited for the future God has for our City! |
BELIEFS
Since we are a ministry to the Church's of Salem, made of many members from those churches. We ask that those who participate hold at least to the foundations of faith listed below:
The Authority of Scripture:
We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of the 66 books of the Holy Bible as the complete canon of God's testimony to mankind. We esteem Scripture as the very Word of God, inerrant in its original form. We do not accept any doctrine which contradicts the clear whole council of Scripture.
JESUS:
Jesus is fully man and fully God. One with the Father and the Holy Spirit. The first and the last, beginning and the end, the Messiah of Israel and all humanity. there is no other name under heaven through which people are saved. He is the only begotten Son of God, He is the word made flesh. the exact representation of the father, sinless, blameless and Holy. he is our salvation and our redeemer. Jesus was born of a virgin, by the seed of the Holy Spirit Himself. He lived, died, was buried, and rose back to life on the 3rd day, he ascended into heaven to sit with God at his right hand on his very throne. God has given Jesus the full authority and leadership over all things. He will return to Judge the living and the dead.
Trinity:
There is one God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three persons- Father, Son and Holy Spirit; these are equal in every divine attribute, yet distinctly three.
Atonement through Christ alone:
All have sinned and are therefore under the sentence of death through sin, therefore all must trust in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus for the remission of sins. There is no other way to reconcile with God or escape from eternal judgment, except through the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins and and His resurrection through which we now have new life.
Water Baptism:
Water baptism should be by immersion and accomplished shortly after commitment to the Lordship of Jesus and His atoning sacrifice for our sin. This ordinance is a personal and public statement of faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Return of Jesus:
We believe in the literal, physical return of the Lord Jesus Christ to rule on earth with His saints. We believe in the resurrection of both the just and the unjust for the day of judgment.
Social and Moral:
Marriage is between one man and one woman and is the only union acceptable by God in the scriptures. Sexual intimacy as God designed it is to be in the context of marriage between one man and one woman, anything other then this is sin. (Heb 13:4, Matthew 19:2-9, Mark 10:8-12, 1Cor 7:2, 1 Tim 3:2)
Gender: God made mankind Male and Female- This Is the only work and design of God for all mankind from the beginning of creation, to this day and forever - Gender is as God defines it in the Bible. (Matthew 19:2-9, Genesis 2:20-24, Genesis 1:27-28) Any other belief is not accepted by God in scripture (Lev 18:22, Lev 20:13, Rom 1:18-32, 1Cor 6:9-11, 1Tim 1:8-10, Jude 7).

F.A.Q.
Why Pray and Worship 24/7?
Many find it strange that night and day prayer and worship would be in the bible or a acceptable way to serve the lord. Yet we don't mind 24/7 grocery stores, we don't mind 27/7 food restaurants, people flock to bars well after midnight to seek pleasures and serve the body. Many will work the night shift in factories to feed their families. Many Jobs require very early or very late hours to make sure people have what they need. from a newspapers in the morning to a tow company at midnight and on and on. We don't think twice about staying out late for a movie or just to watch a favorite show long into the hours of the night. And worse yet we know the powers of darkness are not sleeping, they have no rest till they steal, kill and destroy all that we hold dear. Yet it may seem strange that prayer could and should happen all the time. when scripture shows us clearly the lord would pray often at night and often ALL night.
There are numerous expressions of day and night prayer in scripture. We see “houses of prayer” (Isa. 56:7) as the context for day and night prayer and worship as well as the means by which God’s name will be made “great among the nations” (Mal. 1:11). At SHOP, it is our desire to align ourselves with heaven, viewing the Lord as worthy of incessant praise, just as the creatures and the elders worship day and night around His throne (Rev. 4:8). Finally, we find that God is just and true; He answers the prayers of those who cry out to Him day and night (Luke 18:7).
Jesus said the harvest is plentiful, so his disciples should pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers. Throughout history the Church has often sent out missionaries to preach the gospel without first encountering the heart of God through a lifestyle of prayer with fasting. When our hearts deeply experience the love of God in the place of worship and intercession, we are strengthened and empowered to give ourselves to the work of the Kingdom with greater diligence and out of a overflowing heart in relationship with Jesus.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is orchestrating a global prayer strategy to give covering and strength to a global missions and evangelism strategy to reach the whole earth, far eclipsing any other prayer/missions movement in history. The days are short, his return is near. It's time to pray with out ceasing.
The Salem House of Prayer is only one of many expressions of this prayer movement. Ministries are arising all over our land and the world that are literally offering supplication night and day before the Lord, helping the work of the harvest to move forward with power. In cities throughout the world, we believe it will become common to hear of worship and prayer ministries that continue non-stop day and night in the spirit of the tabernacle of David (see 1 Chr. 13).

Are you affiliated with IHOP-KC?
No. We have many friends that are part of the prayer movement in Kansas City, SHOP was in many ways modeled in the past after IHOP's way of organizing and operating a house of prayer and doing prayer meetings (why remake the wheel right?). but in 2020 that shifted drastically and now our focus in 100% on the Churches of our city and unified worship and prayer as a local effort of the body of Christ. Our functioning model is not related to IHOP anymore. So, no. IHOP does not in any way oversee, have authority over, nor are we a satellite location for them, or anything else.
Are you affiliated with a church or denomination?
SHOP is non-denominational. We seek to serve and partner with all parts of the body of Christ in Salem. Our situation is somewhat unique in that we were not a church that started a prayer ministry; but rather, we started out as a prayer ministry that was formed by members of various churches.
